Dr. Brooke Leverone is a California licensed Naturopathic Doctor trained and certified in IV therapies and techniques. Originally from La Jolla, Dr. Leverone received her pre-med degree from the University of California, San Diego before attending medical school at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. Her training focused on functional medicine with detoxification and nutrient therapy. She believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself when provided with the necessary nutrients and care.

Dr. Leverone works with patients to optimize their health and feel their best by addressing the root cause of their symptoms. Through specialized testing, Dr. Leverone is able to customize a treatment plan for her patients that addresses diet, lifestyle, and utilizes nutrient and hormone therapy to restore proper balance. She specializes in treating hormones and providing bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, genetic testing and methylation support, chronic fatigue, thyroid disorders, insomnia, anxiety and digestive issues.

In addition to her role as a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Leverone enjoys mentoring students at San Diego’s Bastyr University teaching clinic. You can also find her running obstacle courses with her boot camp crew NXPT.

Dr. Cornell is an associate at KOI Wellbeing and a faculty member at Bastyr University California. She practices family medicine, including women’s health, pediatric and adolescent medicine. Dr. Cornell believes in working with the body’s innate ability to heal itself and seeks to address the root cause of illness and injury. She uses a natural medicine approach that combines Eastern and Western medicine and evidence-based medicine using diet and lifestyle, botanicals, nutrients, homeopathy and physical medicine, including craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation. Dr. Cornell helps patients address a wide variety of conditions, such as allergies, asthma, skin conditions, fatigue and unintended weight gain, chronic pain, gastrointestinal disorders, diseases of the kidney and liver, and endocrine disorders including thyroid and adrenal function.

As a ballet dancer for over two decades, Dr. Cornell experienced first-hand the vital importance of healthy eating and lifestyle habits for meeting the demands of high-level performance. This understanding has helped her to explore the relationship of healthy eating and activity level across all levels of fitness and wellness. Together, Dr. Cornell and her patients develop a personalized plan for success in being healthy and active.

Dr. Cornell received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington, and completed a one-year residency program at Bastyr University California. Dr. Cornell received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at San Diego and a certificate in Oriental Body Therapy and TuiNa at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Dr. Cornell has worked in research at The Scripps Research Institute, the University of California, San Diego and at Bastyr University in Kenmore in association with the University of Washington, School of Medicine.

Dr. Cornell is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the California Naturopathic Doctors Association. She also speaks Portuguese and French.

Jacilyn Daniels

Jacilyn is a California Licensed Vocational Nurse and is certified in IV therapy. Born and raised in San Diego, she began her medical career as a phlebotomist and practiced for 4 years before attending nursing school. Outside of Koi, she is currently in school part time to achieve her ultimate goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Jacilyn is passionate about being able to help people and support them with their wellness goals.

Jacilyn joined Koi Wellness in the beginning of 2016 where she has since become a core part of our team. She takes care of all our patients needs from administering their IV Therapy to scheduling their appointments. So, when you walk-in to Koi, Jacilyn will be the first to great you and to make sure your experience is seamless and enjoyable.

In her free time, Jacilyn spends lots of time with her family and loves going to Disneyland! She was also an active gymnast growing up and still enjoys being active and outdoors.


Jeffrey Sternberg

Working in the healthcare field for over a decade, and fueled by his own passion for integrative medicine, Mr. Sternberg decided to expand into wellness. He opened Koi in the Fall of 2015 to provide the community with high quality wellness services that are both effective and convenient.

Mr. Sternberg has over a decade’s experience as an executive and consultant in the healthcare services and healthcare technology marketplace. He is the former CEO of Pacifica Health and Medical and has cultivated strong industry connections through his work as a business development consultant and healthcare market analyst.

Currently, as the CEO of Discovery Health Services LLC he oversees the business for Home Care of La Jolla and Koi Wellbeing.

When he is not busy developing growth strategies or implementing systems, Mr. Sternberg enjoys a tasty acai bowl, surfing with his 2 sons, and checking out the Dr. Seuss gallery with his daughter.


Leah Freeland

From her home birth in Kauai to an all-natural vegetarian upbringing Leah Freeland was destined for the world of wellness. Leah has worked as the Director for Discovery Health Services for the past 6 years and has been at the forefront of shaping Koi Wellbeing. She is excited to be developing and leading the Koi team in all facets of the business including systems and operations.

Leah graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with an emphasis on accounting. She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers public accounting firm.

Leah loves to travel and relishes time spent at the beach with her husband and two young children.
