KPV
A three-amino-acid peptide studied in the lab for inflammation. It has not been tested in people.

What the research shows
KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH, a hormone the body makes. A 2008 review explained why researchers were interested: KPV appeared to keep alpha-MSH’s anti-inflammatory effect without its effect on skin pigment. The evidence reviewed was from cells and animals. [1]
In a 2008 study in Gastroenterology, KPV given by mouth reduced the incidence of colitis in two mouse models, and reduced inflammation in human cell lines. [2] A second 2008 mouse study found a similar anti-inflammatory effect. [3] A 2017 mouse study tested KPV carried in nanoparticles. [4]
We found no study of KPV in people. FDA reached the same conclusion: the agency identified no human exposure data on drug products containing KPV by any route. [5]
What is still unknown
- Whether KPV has any effect in people, at any dose.
- Whether it is safe in people. There is no published human safety data.
- Whether an oral liposomal supplement delivers KPV to the gut or anywhere else. Mouse colitis studies used specific doses and routes that may not apply.
Where it stands with FDA and in sport
FDA has not approved any drug that contains KPV. FDA’s review states that it “has not identified any human exposure data on drug products containing KPV administered via any route of administration.” [6]
KPV was among the substances considered at FDA’s July 2026 advisory committee on compounding. FDA staff proposed that it not be added to the compounding list. Media reports say the committee voted in favor. The vote is advisory, and we found no final FDA action when this page was reviewed. [7]
The product
Quicksilver Scientific Oral Liposomal BPC + KPV
Quicksilver Scientific sells a combination oral liposomal liquid, 1 mL per serving, 30 mL bottle. Its Supplement Facts panel lists “BPC (as Pentadeca Short Chain Amino Acids)” at 1,000 mcg and KPV at 1,000 mcg per serving. The label directs refrigeration after delivery.[8]
It is sold as a dietary supplement, not an FDA-approved drug. We are not aware of published human studies of KPV, of BPC-157 taken by mouth, or of this combination.
Quicksilver does not sell KPV on its own.
